Biden and Harris Receive Comparable Job Ratings in Monmouth Poll

In a recent poll conducted by Monmouth University, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris received comparable job ratings from American voters. The poll, which was conducted from April 8th to 12th, found that 54% of registered voters approve of the job Biden is doing as president, while 41% disapprove. In comparison, 49% of registered voters approve of the job Harris is doing as vice president, while 45% disapprove.

These job ratings are important indicators of how the American public perceives the performance of their elected officials. They reflect the public’s satisfaction with the policies and actions taken by the president and vice president, as well as their overall leadership abilities.

The fact that Biden and Harris received comparable job ratings in this poll is significant because it suggests that the American public views them as a team, rather than as separate entities. This is particularly noteworthy given that Harris is the first woman, first Black person, and first person of South Asian descent to hold the position of vice president in the United States.

The poll also found that Biden’s approval rating has remained relatively stable since he took office in January, hovering around the mid-50s. This is in contrast to his predecessor, Donald Trump, whose approval rating was consistently lower throughout his presidency.

One factor that may be contributing to Biden’s relatively high approval rating is his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. The poll found that 65% of registered voters approve of his handling of the pandemic, while 29% disapprove. This is likely due to the fact that Biden has made the pandemic a top priority since taking office, implementing a national strategy to combat the virus and ramping up vaccine distribution.

Harris, on the other hand, has had a more low-key role in the administration thus far. While she has taken on some high-profile assignments, such as leading the administration’s efforts to address the root causes of migration from Central America, she has largely stayed out of the spotlight. This may be why her job rating is slightly lower than Biden’s.

Overall, the Monmouth poll suggests that Biden and Harris are off to a strong start in their roles as president and vice president, respectively. While there is still much work to be done to address the many challenges facing the country, including racial inequality, economic recovery, and climate change, the fact that they are working together as a team bodes well for their ability to make progress on these issues.
