Senate President Nicholas P. Scutari (D-22) today announced his intention to run for re-election for another term as President of the State Senate following the November 2025 general elections. First elected by the full chamber in January 2022 and re-elected this past January, Scutari and the Senate Democratic Leadership have ushered in historic property tax relief programs, protected women’s reproductive freedoms, and fought for fair funding levels for our schools, according to Scutari.

“With no state Senate elections, the Democratic caucus has seen fit to continue on with the same leadership. We are in unprecedented times where elections will soon dictate control of the White House, our Congress, the Governor’s Office, and the General Assembly,” said the sitting Senate President. “I am proud of the accomplishments of our leadership team, our Senate body as a whole. I look forward to keeping our priorities focused on the issues directly affecting our families and communities, and along with my team, provide the steady and stable leadership needed for the coming term. I am deeply honored to have the support of so many members of my caucus and continue the great work of our leadership team which includes Majority Leader Ruiz and Senators Sarlo, Turner, Pou and Singleton.”
