Passaic County Democratic Committee Reveals Sheriff Candidates for Interview on Insider NJ

In an effort to find a worthy successor to the late and beloved Sheriff Rich Berdnik, the Passaic County Democratic Committee (PCDC) has initiated an open process to select the next Passaic County Sheriff. This selection process unfurled in front of any Democrat residing in Passaic County for at least the last three years.

“We are committed to finding a leader who exemplifies not only the integrity, dedication, and vision that former Sheriff Berdnik stood for but also someone who can continue the positive work being done by our county board of commissioners to enhance public safety and overall quality of life in Passaic County,” said PCDC Chairman John Currie

As part of this process, the PCDC received expressions of interest from numerous candidates. After thoroughly reviewing the submitted paperwork and qualifications, five candidates have been invited to present their vision and credentials before the PCDC and Democratic Municipal Leaders of Passaic County. The candidates being considered for endorsement are:

  1. Thomas Marinaro – Bloomingdale, NJ
  2. Thomas Adamo – Wayne, NJ
  3. Paul M. Cell – Little Falls, NJ
  4. Michael Kassai – Hawthorne, NJ
  5. Mason Maher – Hawthorne, NJ
  6. Glen Brown – Paterson, NJ

It’s important to note that there is an announced candidate in the Democratic Primary who did not participate in the screening process, Currie grumbled, referring to Jerry Speziale, without actually naming him. However, the process was open to any interested Democrat who met the residency requirements and wished to engage by submitting the necessary paperwork.

The endorsed candidate will run alongside the team of County Commissioner candidates, including Commissioners Cassandra “Sandi” Lazzara and John Bartlett and Commissioner candidate Rodney De Vore.

Finally:

“Chairman John Currie and the PCDC are eager to proceed with the interviews, highlighting the Democratic Party’s commitment to selecting a candidate who exemplifies the dedication, integrity, and vision necessary to lead the Sheriff’s Office moving forward. This process reflects the party’s dedication to ensuring all Passaic County residents’ safety, security, and welfare through thoughtful leadership and community engagement.”
