Immediately after his State of the Union speech, President Joe Biden shook hands with two North Jersey diehards.
First, he received the congratulations of U.S. Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. (D-10) of Newark (above).
Then he shared a moment with U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-9) of Paterson (below).
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy issued the following statement in response to the President’s speech:
“In tonight’s State of the Union address, President Biden spoke to the highest aspirations of the American people, and shared a vision for the future of our country defined by unity, opportunity, and ambition.
“The President put forward a strong case for his continued leadership, which has delivered the largest infrastructure investment in American history, inspired a resurgence of American competitiveness in manufacturing and innovation, and revitalized the strongest economy in the world. Moreover, throughout his remarks, President Biden’s values and confidence in the American people stood in stark contrast with those who conspire to turn back the clock on women’s rights, neglect our communities, and fuel division and hatred across our nation.
“The agenda President Biden outlined will build a stronger and fairer future for all of America’s families. Under the Biden Administration the state of our union remains strong, hopeful, and forward-looking, and together, we will continue to reignite the American Dream.”
