Mayor Jenny Mundell is announcing that she will run in the upcoming Primary Election this June to secure the nomination of the Democratic Party and continue serving as the Mayor of Bloomfield. Having already made history as the first woman to hold the position, Mayor Mundell is committed to building on the strong progress she has helped make possible over the last several years.
“Now, more than ever, we need compassionate, local leaders who know how to navigate government and engage residents to build a resilient community,” says Mundell. “I’m running for mayor to continue to be that leader.”
Having taken office as mayor in November of 2024, following 7 years serving as First Ward Councilwoman, Mayor Mundell has been a dedicated and passionate leader who has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Bloomfield residents. In less than three months as mayor, Mundell has already transformed the Township’s process for recruiting and appointing boards and commissions, creating a more transparent and inclusive approach to the same, as well as completed the demolition of Bloomfield’s former DPW building, a project that took almost 20 years to advance.
From securing vital community resources to ensuring transparency in government, Mayor Mundell’s leadership has also earned widespread support from both local residents and political leaders. She remains committed to an open, transparent, stable government and is focused on building a Bloomfield that works for everyone.
“Building on our town’s strong foundation, Mayor Mundell has already made great strides strengthening our Bloomfield community,” said Assemblyman Michael Venezia, representative of the 34th District, incumbent candidate, and Bloomfield resident, who has endorsed Mundell’s re-election bid. “Her experience in government, vision, and deep passion for giving this community what it deserves are exactly what Bloomfield needs. I wholeheartedly support her as she runs for re-election.”
“As the Assemblywoman representing Bloomfield, I am proud to support Mayor Mundell for re-election,” says 34th District Assemblywoman and incumbent assembly candidate, Carmen Morales. “Mayor Mundell has shattered barriers as the first woman to serve as mayor of her town and has led with integrity, vision, and a steadfast commitment to our community. Under her leadership, first as Councilwoman and now as Mayor, Bloomfield has seen progress that puts families first, strengthens local businesses, and builds a brighter future for everyone. Together, we are breaking glass ceilings and ensuring that every voice in Bloomfield is heard. I stand with Mayor Mundell because she stands with all of us.”
While in office, Mayor Mundell has focused on public safety, economic growth, quality of life issues, and strengthening the township’s sense of community. As she runs for re-election, she will continue championing responsible development, affordability, sustainable and strategic growth, and stable, effective governance that puts Bloomfield residents first.
“As Mayor, I will continue to focus on the issues that matter most to our community—responsible economic development, keeping our streets safe, clean, and cared for, and ensuring everyone in Bloomfield has a voice in our future,” Mayor Mundell said. “I am proud of the progress we’ve made, and I look forward to continuing to serve this wonderful community.”
Mayor Mundell will be running in 2025 to secure a full term in office after being elected to fill the vacancy left by former mayor, now 34th district assembly representative, Assemblyman Michael Venezia, in 2024. Mayor Mundell won the Democratic nomination in the 2024 June Primary with a landslide victory, beating the temporarily appointed incumbent and following that, securing the seat in the 2024 General Election with 70% of the total votes cast across the township.
