Marcellus Declares Candidacy for County Commissioner District 4 in Insider NJ
Local small business owner Jonathan Marcellus today announced his candidacy for Atlantic County Commissioner in District 4, emphasizing his journey from immigrant to entrepreneur as a testament to the American Dream.

“Coming to this country from Haiti, I learned firsthand the power of the American Dream,” said Marcellus. “I started as a casino employee and, through hard work and perseverance, rose to become a manager, supervisor, and eventually an entrepreneur. Now, I am running for Atlantic County Commissioner in District 4 because I believe in giving back to the community that welcomed me and supported my journey. I want to create opportunities for everyone to succeed, just as I did, and help build a future where every dream is within reach.”

Marcellus, who immigrated from Haiti and became a United States citizen, began his career as a dishwasher at a hotel in North Jersey. Upon moving to the Atlantic City area, he worked his way up from a security officer to ultimately becoming a supervisor in housekeeping and food and beverage as well as a shift manager in restaurant services. In 2014, he founded Marcellus Integrity Multi Services, a small business that provides income tax preparation, accounting, and consulting services to residents and small businesses.

Beyond his business endeavors, Marcellus is deeply involved in the community. He serves as a board member at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Pleasantville, one of the largest religious congregations in the area. He earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a doctorate from Walden University. Marcellus and his wife, Florise, reside in Galloway Township with their two children.

Marcellus, a longtime advocate for economic opportunity and community service, will officially launch his campaign for Atlantic County Commissioner in District 4 at the 50th Annual Atlantic County Democratic Convention on Sunday, March 2, where he will make his case for building a stronger, more inclusive community.
