Insider NJ Reports on the Latest GOP Race for Governor

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS – This town’s “Trumpy mayor” wants to be the state’s “Trumpy governor.”

Mario Kranjac, the mayor of this Bergen County town above the Hudson River, says he’s running for governor.

Kranjac said he is running as an America First candidate to finish the job Donald Trump began last fall. By that he means win New Jersey.

Kamala Harris won the state last fall, but her winning margin was surprisingly small, giving hope to Republicans for 2025.

Kranjac says the following in a release:

“Just like President Trump, after decades of success in the private sector, Kranjac felt the call to service. In 2016, he was elected Mayor of Englewood Cliffs as a political outsider, beating the Democrat political machine that had been running the mayor’s office for 42 years. As Mayor, he improved the quality of life in Englewood Cliffs by reinstituting the rule of law, fighting corruption, improving schools, rebuilding public infrastructure, and lowering government spending and taxes.”

How about the “Trumpy mayor” designation?

Well, Kranjac says that NJ.com called him that after he “took on Black Lives Matter” and stood up to Phil Murphy’s COVID lockdowns.

Of course in the lingo of MAGA, Kranjac refers to the outlet as “Fake News NJ.com.”

Whatever he calls himself, Kranjac seems a bit late to the game.

The current four-man field – Jack Ciattarelli, Jon Bramnick, Bill Spadea and Ed Durr – has been at it for months now. And they are set to debate Tuesday night.

Kranjac’s campaign was asked about his late entry into the race in an email, but has yet to reply. But he said in his statement that those in the race have not attracted enough support to win.

Insider NJ, a leading news source for political updates in New Jersey, has recently reported on the latest developments in the GOP race for governor. With the upcoming election drawing near, candidates from the Republican party are vying for the opportunity to lead the state and implement their vision for its future.

One of the key contenders in the race is Jack Ciattarelli, a former state assemblyman who has been gaining momentum in recent polls. Ciattarelli has been positioning himself as a moderate Republican, focusing on issues such as property tax reform and improving the state’s economy. His experience in the state legislature and his business background have helped him garner support from a wide range of voters.

Another prominent candidate in the GOP race is Hirsh Singh, a businessman and engineer who has been running a grassroots campaign focused on conservative values. Singh has emphasized his support for gun rights, lower taxes, and limited government intervention. While he may not have the same name recognition as Ciattarelli, Singh’s passionate base of supporters could make him a formidable opponent in the primary.

Other candidates in the GOP race include Phil Rizzo, a pastor and conservative activist, and Brian Levine, the mayor of Franklin Township. Both Rizzo and Levine have been working to distinguish themselves from the other candidates and appeal to different segments of the Republican base.
