This round of endorsements keeps Steve’s momentum going after receiving the endorsement of the Democratic Mayor and the entire Mount Laurel Township Council.
Steve Sweeney issued the following statement:
“I’m honored to have the backing of these great Democratic leaders from Burlington County. I grew up in Pennsauken, right next door to Burlington County, so this means a lot to me personally. As the only candidate in this race from South Jersey, I don’t need a map to find Burlington County, and I’ll make sure Burlington’s leaders always have a seat at the table in Trenton. As Governor, I will focus on a middle class agenda that puts working people first, for a change, and hold Trump, Musk, and their buddies in Congress accountable for hurting the poor, disabled, and the elderly at our expense.”

Several prominent leaders in Burlington County have announced their support for State Senate President Steve Sweeney’s campaign for governor of New Jersey. Sweeney, a Democrat who has served in the state legislature for over two decades, is seen as a strong contender in the upcoming gubernatorial race.
One of the key endorsements for Sweeney comes from Burlington County Democratic Committee Chair Joe Andl. Andl praised Sweeney’s leadership and track record of delivering results for the people of New Jersey. “Steve Sweeney has been a tireless advocate for working families and has a proven record of getting things done in Trenton,” Andl said in a statement. “I am proud to support his campaign for governor and look forward to working with him to build a stronger and more prosperous New Jersey.”
Other Burlington County leaders who have thrown their support behind Sweeney include Freeholder Director Felicia Hopson and Freeholder Deputy Director Tom Pullion. Both Hopson and Pullion cited Sweeney’s commitment to improving healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for all New Jersey residents as reasons for their endorsement.
Sweeney’s campaign has also received endorsements from several labor unions, environmental groups, and other organizations across the state. His platform includes proposals to increase funding for public schools, expand access to affordable healthcare, and create new job opportunities through investments in infrastructure and clean energy.
With the support of Burlington County leaders and a strong coalition of supporters statewide, Sweeney is well-positioned to mount a competitive campaign for governor. As the race heats up in the coming months, it will be interesting to see how Sweeney’s message resonates with voters and whether he can build a winning coalition to secure the Democratic nomination and ultimately the governorship of New Jersey.
