By acclimation, state Senator Nellie Pou (D-35) received the backing of the joint committee of 9th District Democrats tonight to run with the party’s support in the Nov. 5th election.
The joint committee entertained no other nominations at the meeting, held at Passaic County Technical Institute.
Under the watchful eyes of chairmen John Currie, Paul Juliano, and Craig Guy, Pou took the stage and acknowledged the support of her party.
The longtime lawmaker will run for the seat last held by the late U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-9), laid to rest yesterday.
Pou will face Republican nominee Billy Prempeh in the Democratic Party-dominant district.
