Archer & Greiner, P.C. (“Archer”) is pleased to announce the Honorable Lee A. Solomon (Ret.) has joined the firm’s Business Litigation Group as Of Counsel, bringing a decade of service on the New Jersey Supreme Court in his return to private practice.
Justice Solomon came to the Supreme Court having served in all three branches of government, as a member of the State Assembly, a cabinet member serving as president of the Board of Public Utilities, and the judiciary. In his role at Archer, his unparalleled experience will be invaluable to all areas of the firm’s practice. Justice Solomon will strategize and consult on trial and appellate matters and assist clients in all facets of disputes whether it involves complex and significant litigation matters, alternative dispute resolutions, or government investigations.

Justice Solomon has had a long and distinguished legal career. He is known for possessing a deep understanding of the issues facing the people, businesses and official agencies of the State, and has a reputation for always treating those who came before him with great respect and humility. His judicial body of work spans the wide spectrum of the law, including the areas of environmental law, civil litigation, equity, family law, and criminal law.
While serving on the court, Justice Solomon has been a leading voice in the efforts to shine a light on the importance of addressing and improving the mental health and well-being of the legal profession, in particular through his leadership as chair of the Supreme Court Committee on Wellness in the Law.
Justice Solomon entered the legal field as a trial attorney working in Philadelphia, and later launched his own solo practice in New Jersey. He served on the Haddon Heights Borough Council, the Camden County Board of Freeholders (1989-1990), and the New Jersey General Assembly.
While an assemblyman from January 1991 to December 1995, Justice Solomon served as vice chair of the Assembly Judiciary Committee, vice chair of the Law and Public Safety Committee, and chair of the Subcommittee on Criminal Justice, among other leadership posts.
Justice Solomon became Camden County prosecutor in 1997, a position he held until 2002.
Justice Solomon became deputy U.S. attorney for the southern vicinages in the District of New Jersey, a position to which he was appointed by Gov. Christie from 2002 to 2006, when Gov. Christie was U.S. attorney. Justice Solomon led the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Camden and Trenton branches.
A Superior Court judge previously, Justice Solomon was first appointed to the bench in January 2006 by then acting Gov. Richard J. Codey. He served in the Camden Vicinage for two years in the Family Division, followed by two years in the Criminal Division.
In February 2010, Gov. Christie named Justice Solomon to his cabinet, as head of the Board of Public Utilities. During his tenure as BPU President, Justice Solomon oversaw the expansion of New Jersey’s solar program and revised the energy master plan. Justice Solomon served as president until December 2011.
In January 2011, Justice Solomon returned to Superior Court to be an assignment judge in the Civil Division. In April 2013, Justice Solomon was named presiding judge of the Criminal Division, and in November 2013, he was named assignment judge, both times by current Chief Justice Stuart Rabner.
Following his nomination by Gov. Chris Christie and confirmation by the Senate, Justice Solomon was sworn in as an associate justice on June 19, 2014. His term of service on the court concluded on August 17, 2024.
Justice Solomon was born in Philadelphia and attended public schools there. He received his bachelor’s degree from Muhlenberg College, where he became a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, and earned his law degree from Widener University School of Law, where he served as an External Articles Editor and member of the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law.
