O'Scanlon Urges Watchdog Executive to Step Down, According to Insider NJ

Today, Senator Declan O’Scanlon (R-13) called on Tiffany Williams Brewer, chief executive officer of the State Commission of Investigation (SCI) to resign after Asbury Park Press reported that she is living in Maryland and working a second full-time job in Washington, D.C.

“The revelations surrounding Tiffany Williams Brewer’s conflicting out-of-state commitments and dubious/conflicting residency claims are an insult to New Jersey taxpayers and warrant her immediate resignation from SCI,” said Sen. O’Scanlon. “When you’re tasked with leading an agency designed to root out corruption in New Jersey, at the bare minimum you should be living in the state and showing up to work. Instead, she’s juggling this critically important role at SCI while residing in Maryland and teaching in Washington, D.C. which limits her presence in New Jersey to one- or two-days at best. That alone should disqualify her from leading SCI.

“We just became aware that her salary increased from $175k to $210k on January 1st. Her predecessor made less money, and was in the office much more than the one to two days Williams Brewer intends to put in.

“Add to that her Maryland home is claimed to be her primary residence, but she reportedly voted in New Jersey during the November election. How are taxpayers expected to trust someone embroiled in blatant dishonesty and conflict to run an agency designed to protect taxpayers from corruption? Her actions make a mockery of SCI’s mission, and her continued presence damages its integrity as the state’s leading investigative authority on waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars.”
