Supporters Gather in Philadelphia to Rally for Kamala Harris - Insider NJ

PHILADELPHIA – The backers of Vice President Kamala Harris tonight demonstrated considerable people power on the streets of the City of Brotherly Love, high energy from her surging candidacy on display throughout long lines along the Parkway on the same road Rocky Balboa ran to mount the stone stairs of the Philadelphia Art Museum.

These people waited excitedly to see and hear Harris later this evening on the eve of Election Day, 2024.

A man walked by grinning. On his t-shirt was the grinning face of the late Senator John McCain, a Vietnam War hero derided and demeaned by Donald Trump. Other men selling Harris for President t-shirts combed the crowd.  A bicycle with an American Flag and a flag with a picture of Harris zigzagged through the lines of people wrapped around Logan Square in front of the Franklin Institute.

The streets.

The people kept coming, showing confidence in battleground Pennsylvania’s largest city, the heavily Democratic Philadelphia. Harris needs huge numbers here to offset Republican rival Trump’s rural advantages as the pair vie for the commonwealth’s 19 electoral votes.

Unable to cope with losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden, Trump turned a mob on the United States Capitol on Jan. 6th, 2021 in hopes of preventing his own vice-president, Mike Pence, from certifying the results of a legitimate presidential election. Today, at a campaign rally in Pittsburgh, Trump continued to make unfounded accusations that Democrats would rig the 2024 election. “They’ll try, and they are trying,” Trump said onstage. “You know that.”

On Thursday night in Arizona, he told a crowd, “The only thing that can stop us is the cheating. It’s the only thing that can stop us.”

But the energy for Harris in Philadelphia looked substantial in this battleground as the massive crowd descended on the downtown area in advance of the vice president’s last rally here. “Has he tweeted about the crowd size yet,” a woman deadpanned in the swarm of people. “Has he tweeted to his supporters that this is a mirage?”
